Get The Lead Out
According to the Associated Press, Intel will soon be removing the last of the lead from its processor chips as part of the company’s environmental campaign. Currently about 2/100th of a gram of tin/lead solder is used to connect the processor to the motherboard, but later this year Intel will begin substituting a tin, silver, and copper alloy. Advanced Micro Devices has also started to reduce the amount of lead used in its processors.
